Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be......

My parents are celebrating 42 years of marriage today.......i want to be like them. Granted, they got married when they were teenagers....Jon and I will be a wee bit older when we celebrate 42 years and won't have the luxury of being in our early 60's!
But, regardless of age, I hope to have a marriage that thrives like theirs has. They certainly shared life's ups and downs beginning when they eloped as teens, then with my dad flying in Vietnam while my mom was pregnant with my brother. They raised two children, and moved countless times in the military, starting over again and again. They went through more than any parent should have to when my brother was in a coma after his car accident, and dealt with the grief after losing all of their parents over the years. Their bond grew even stronger with the news that my mom was adopted....we found out when I was in college and my mom in her 40's that she was adopted and we weren't really Irish....we were Italian! There are too many stories to tell and too many adventures and experiences to write about but the point of this story is that in spite of all of life's curveballs, they remain the best of friends and the most passionate of couples. They have a respect for each other that is obvious, a common sense of adventure, a similar dedication to family and an attraction to each other that is enough to make any daughter ill :-) I wouldn't trade any of it!
Happy Anniversary mom and dad! Thank you for giving Bobby and me a true sense of what long lasting and deep love and commitment is.
