The Walk

9 Years.....almost $1 million dollars and last Saturday, over 1200 people.
We are still trying to find a cure for brain tumors, and the walk got us one step closer.
But it was a different year for me this year.
I started working on this event in honor of Brian and with the hope that no other young couples would have to hear the news we did 10 years ago.
I kept working on the walk not only for those reasons, but because of all of my new friends who are fighting brain tumors or caregivers of loved ones who are fighting.
And now, all of those reasons are still there, along with the recent news that my boss was diagnosed with an aggressive and angry tumor. She has entered into a dark, scary world all because of one mri and the word's from a doctor's mouth. She now lays awake at night wondering if she will see her children get married, and how long she has left in this world and how her husband will cope, alone, with both kids going off to college. She is trying to be brave and strong but she told me she is scared.
We had a team of over 50 people from 9NEWS show up to support her and walk alongside her. It was good for her, and even better for all of us to see her smiling face. It will be a long road ahead.

As for the walk, it was fun and emotional and motivating and more. Many friends (Smiths, Firestones, Sabatos, Gills, Rupps and more), family (Jon, Lylah, Grandmama and Grandbob) and co-workers were there to make it a complete day. One thing missing was my sweet Brady, which broke my heart. He wanted to stand on the stage with me but he had a 103 fever and had to stay home (thank you grandma Barb and Papa). I missed you sweet boy.

There will always be next year.........10 amazing years!
