And God Bless Me

Two years ago today, at approximately 6pm, I had just finished a few laps around the neighborhood and several flights up and down the stairs, when I felt the first contractions. By 10pm (and after a good meal and a warm bath), we were on our way to the hospital. The pain was intense....much more than the first time around, and things were happening way too fast. I will never forget my first exam, more painful than anything else that day, as Jon sat next to me, holding my hand with tears streaming down his face. Within an hour or two, i had just received the epidural, when it was time to start pushing. Then a short time later, YOU appeared. Full of fire, lots of hair and that sass we have come to know and love.

When I tucked you in tonight, I asked you for a kiss and you grabbed my face with both hands and pulled me to you for a huge kiss. You hold my hand so tight now....."mommy, come on, come on". You still snuggle, you still let me pick you up, you still sing songs with me and you still do your prayer hands every night and bless the moon, bless me, your family and your friends.
How is it that I can miss so many things that have changed over the past two years, yet be more excited every day to get to know you and your brother?
Happy Birthday Sweet Bean. We are so very lucky!

Oooohhh that face!!!!!!
Oh how they change.....
