Peanut trials

Sounds like the name of a book, but in reality, Brady has decided to participate in a peanut allergy trial for the next year!

I will post some photos along the way as this is a unique journey that took a lot of nerve to embark on.

Brady started with some tpyical peanut allergy tests but last week, he did a peanut food challenge, in a supervised/monitored environment at Children's. I can't imagine how hard that had to be for him, not knowing how is body would react.

He had to take the food challenge to confirm his allergy and now he will embark on a year of injections of a medication that may reduce the reaction to peanuts.

He will get paid for his time but it's still a huge commitment with more food challenges ahead.

first testing day to establish baselines
first spoonful of peanut...or so we thought. But this turned out to be the placebo day?!?!
and the difference in this picture....the throw up bowl on his lap. This day was the real deal...several spoonfuls of peanut protein mixed in chocolate. He became very nauseous and had some minor throat tingling but was so calm and never actually threw up. a litle zyrtec and he was eating fried chicken a few hours later. He is now officially in the study so  more to come soon!
