We like to call it the vacation from Nature to Mayhem (Grand Canyon to Las Vegas!!)

This summer, we decided to try something a little different with the kids, and I think it was a success :)

We flew into Phoenix, rented a car and drove to the Grand Canyon. It was good for the kids to stay in the Grand Canyon area, in a non-resort, non-fancy area!  We spent one day at the Grand Canyon, walking along the rim so we could see a few different perspectives. It was absolutely breathtaking and so glad the kids at least had the experience of seeing one of the wonders of the World! We had some fun dinners at the local restaurants, played sone cards and got to hear a bit more about Jon's adventures down in the Grand Canyon. I think he was excited to show one of his favorite places to us!

The next day, we drove to Las Vegas, and made a stop at the Hoover Dam. Another first for me and I think the kids enjoyed seeing it firsthand as well.

But no surprise, I think they enjoyed the craziness of Vegas the most! We walked A TON between Tuesday pm and Thursday afternoon. Saw the majority of the sites, ate some great food, some the Cris Angel illusion show (very cool, although it scared the crap out of Lylah at the beginning!) and spent a lot of time in the Mandalay Bay wave pool and lazy river.

It was quite the eye opening experience for them to take it all in (ladies in feathers and all!). Super fun new experience with a little road trip, a little nature and a little city life!
