So this time in our lives certainly has its up and downs. The kids may never understand this but I feel like this time was a blessing for me in so many ways. the Shelter in place law and home schooling has allowed me time with the kids I never would have had.
We have played frisbee, made whoopies pies, went for numerous bike rides and walks with Charlie, running with Brady and Charlie, scootering with Lylah, painting rocks, drawing all kinds of pictures, played games, watched new shows (extreme makeover home edition with the kids and Tiger King with Jon), have done kind things for others (Jordana, Christina, Happy Birthday to Mia, chalk art etc), talked to friends we/I don't get to talk to as much, slept in, stayed up late, howled at the moon (in support of healthcare workers) and the list goes on.
Don't get me wrong.....I am sick to my stomach about the kids not being able to see their friends and go to school. Lylah particularly is so sad to miss Young Ameritowne, Growing and Changing, Continuation, etc but we are going to try to make the best of this. And I get to be her Growing and Changing teacher :) which has already proven to be fun with lots of giggles from Lylah.
I miss social gatherings and going into the office but I am also seeing the joy of getting outdoors more, spending quality, not rushed time together. I am in the best shape of my life (with sometimes two a day workouts), sleeping better than I used to, cooking more than usual, and taking more time for the little things (like listening to a song with Lylah every single night before she goes to bed and having more night lovings time with Brady and Charlie. Charlie has even been having sleepovers with Brady a few nights a week)
This week (end of April), we added in a family game of Bocce Ball at the park (so fun!), a backyard game of cornhole, more daily walks with Charlie, "driveway visits" with friends, more game time with Grandmama and Grandbob, birthday wishes for Papa, new recipes (Korean beef), pizza night, homemade cookies. School at home is still tough....doesn't take up a ton of the day and I am still working but we are doing our best to balance and still have some great times.
