Brady went on to compete in regionals a few weeks ago and we were all there to cheer him on (along with some of his teachers and his principal).
it was so stressful......round after round and Brady was still up there. These kids were all amazing spellers! Brady was so calm, so cool....just looked right at the judges, chewing his gum and hands in his pockets and rocked word after word. As kids kept going out, we got more and more anxious. I was in shock when it was down to the final two and Brady was still up there. It was round 18 and the other kid misspelled a word. All brady needed to do was spell Garbanzo (the same word he spelled correctly at Blue Heron) and he was the winner. For a brief moment, he hesitated, He was nervous and overthinking and almost put an "o" in the middle. But he spelled it correctly and we all lost our minds :-) Lylah and I were holding hands those final few rounds and everyone was on the edge of their seat.
Next stop: state championship!
We are beyond proud and very excited for him. I loved that they celebrated him at school and let him know this was a huge accomplishment!
Congrats B!
