High School x2

Having two high schoolers brings me pure joy (unless they are cranky with me ). But for real…so much fun in high school…to experience it through the kid’s eyes.

Brady had another fantastic year in tennis, this time making it all the way to STATE as the #1 doubles team representing Columbine. The year started rocky with some questionable decisions by the coach that placed Brady at doubles rather than singles, but watching the season play out, this ended up being a great decision. He and his partner, Senior Brody Rogers, dominated most of their matches, kicked butt at regionals and worked their way into 2 rounds at State. SO proud of him for hanging in, when he thought he may quit the team, working hard and ending up having fun with a great group of kids. I was the team mom again, which was a fun way for me to stay connected.

And Lylah has being enjoying high school Poms so far this year. It’s a lot of hard work and more practices than she is used to but has been really good for her. And….she’s dang good. One of the best on JV and headed for a Varsity spot next year if she keeps doing what she is doing. She has been ablet perform at a few JV football games, a CSU Halftime show, a Rockies pregame show (earlier post) and will head into competition season soon. Her team even choregraphed and performed the Halloween flash mob dance for Children’s this year!

We also had two kiddos to prep for homecoming this year! SO fun for both of them. Brady was fresh off of a very difficult break up with his first love, but I was do proud of his resiliency. He dressed up, went with a big group of his friends and went to a party after….and managed to stay out of trouble, as far as we know. Haha! He’s a tough kid who was able to immerse himself in friends, family and activities to get through a hard time and know that there is life outside of a lady. While I felt like I was going through the emotions of the week right with Brady (during the breakup), I was so glad to have the time with him for him to express his emotions, grieve and then watch him pull himself back up!

And Lylah pulled together a great group of gals, picked out a fabulous green dress and had a really fun evening, ending back at our house for a sleepover. It was great to see all the gals getting ready at our house and they all looked so pretty! Soon after HoCo, Lylah had her first boy over to the house…nice enough kiddo but we realized 14 year old boys are immature and indecisive, to say the least I was still glad that she was able to talk to me about it and move on.
